Raw Materials Needed for Puff Production
The most important raw materials necessary for the making of puffed snacks include maize, water, oil, salt, as well as optional flavoring agents. Maize remains at the center in the entire puff production process as it provides the starch that is needed in the process of extrusion. Water is used for hydration of the dough, oil is used to serve as fat and flavor, and salt is used to provide preservative and taste. Other add-ons for example flavoring agents can be incorporated to alter the taste.
