The key is using the appropriate blade, as a dull, non-serrated blade can mash the soft interior of the bread.

Q: Will a meat slicer slice raw meat?

A: Yes, you can slice raw meat with a meat slicer, but it's crucial to chill the meat until it's firm (but not frozen) to get a clean, consistent slice and to prevent it from moving around during slicing. Q: Should I use a serrated or straight blade for meat slicer?

A: It actually depends on what you're slicing. Prepared meats and sausages, cheese etc. are best when using the non- serrated blade. Raw or uncooked meats are best with the serrated blade.

A: A clean consistent slice requires that raw meats be frozen. Raw, warm product will move when sliced making it impossible to maintain a consistent slice.
